Join us to honor
grief support at Duke

November 19th, 2026

6:00-8:00pm

at Washington Duke Inn, Washington Duke

Please join us for an evening of recognition and gratitude for Duke Health staff who accompany patients and families through illness, uncertainty, loss, death, and grief.

Healthcare providers are often asked to hold an extraordinary amount: the grief of patients and families, difficult conversations and transitions, relationships that end through death, the cumulative losses that come with years of caring for others, and the responsibility of continuing to show up for the next patient.

And much of this happens quietly and is rarely named, acknowledged, or given dedicated space.

As part of the Feinglos Grief Initiative, the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center and Feinglos Fund invite providers from across Duke Health for an evening designed simply to say: we see the grief you’ve held, we recognize the care you provide, and this work matters.

Through dinner, storytelling, reflection, art, and small rituals of gratitude, participants will have opportunities to recognize one another and experience some of the same care they so often provide to others.

Join us for:

  • An evening of celebratory food and drinks

  • Reflections from Feinglos Grief Initiative partners, including The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, The Feinglos Fund, and PAUSE

  • Opportunities for providers to recognize and thank colleagues who have supported them

  • A customized art installation focused on provider grief, by award-winning artist and curator Charlene Lam

This evening is intended to communicate something simple but often left unsaid: The grief you have witnessed matters. The grief you carry matters. The ways you care for patients, families, and one another matters. Thank you.
