The humans featured in this booklet think about death, dying, and grief on a regular basis. They are a collection of doulas, grievers, creatives, planners, and deathcare community members - all willing to share what they’re proactively planning for their own end after spending their time supporting others.
We asked them, “What do you want for the end of your life?” and “What do you want for the folks who will grieve once you’re gone?” - leaving the questions open to interpretation. This collection of their answers is intended to give you, a fellow human, somewhere to start in your own dreaming about how you want to be held, cared for, and put to rest when you die.
We hope this gives you somewhere to start planning for the many decisions to be made - the many considerations to sit with - in a way that is light and sweet; in a way that feels personal and expansive. We hope it brings you tiny smiles. We hope it connects dots. We hope it turns on lightbulbs and helps you find words that you didn’t have before.
We invite you to use the prompts. Scrawl in the margins. Draw in the open space. Send the postcards to someone who needs to know your wishes.
Or just sit with the words and enjoy.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Love,
